This prestigious award for the best overall contribution to furthering system dynamics in South Africa goes to Corne du Plooy! Corné’s career started with B. Ing Chemical from NWU. He has worked in system dynamics for almost a decade, mostly in water and energy applications. In Eskom the simulation development process enabled him to engage with operational and high level management, governing the strategic water directives. He has been actively driving the development of system dynamics in South Africa as part of the South African Chapter. In 2018 he initiated the first SA System Dynamics Modelling competition; this year is the 6th edition, now global. His passion for spreading and teaching system dynamics has led him to pursue an MSc for structuring the simulation formation process, completing it with distinction under Dr Botha. He has recently joined the Access to Medicines department at KU Leuven, Belgium, where he is practising system dynamics and started with his PhD.
